Orchestra Nova Northwest and Resonance Ensemble joined by Choral Arts Ensemble of Portland and guest soloists, present Gabriela Lena Frank’s Conquest Requiem — a sweeping work exploring power, survival, and the many ways history can be understood through the figure of Malinche, an Indigenous interpreter in the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The concert also features the world premiere of Courage, a new work by Portland-based Venezuelan composer Giancarlo Castro D’Addona, honoring Portland peace activist Del Greenfield and her commitment to justice.
