Taking our inspiration from the world around us, PCSO features Concertmaster Casey Bozell in a sublime work by 20th Century English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. The program includes the evocative Yakona by Sara Carina Graef, an homage to the Yaqo’n Indian tribe of Oregon, accompanied by images of the Yakona Nature Preserve and oyster-rich Yaquina Bay. Ludwig van Beethoven’s ode to the natural world, his exquisite Symphony No. 6 (the Pastoral), with its themes of harmony and idealism as personified by nature, anchors this concert of unfolding wonder. As Beethoven himself phrased it: “Surely woods, trees, and rocks produce the echo that man desires to hear”.
