Portland, OR – April 10, 2025 – The Board of Orchestra Nova Northwest (ONN) announces that Executive Director Kevin Irving will depart from his position effective June 30, 2025, after three years of dedicated service to the organization.

Irving joined the orchestra, then known as Portland Columbia Symphony, in July 2022, after an extensive search for leadership. During his tenure, Irving played an important role in advancing the orchestra’s artistic initiatives, supporting its dedicated team, and growing its presence in the Portland arts community.

“I have been honored to serve as Executive Director of ONN,” said Irving. “In my time with this extraordinary organization, I have witnessed firsthand the power of music to bring people together, the power of music to inspire. I depart towards new creative opportunities, but will always treasure the relationships I’ve built, most especially with the extraordinary Steven Byess, and the work we’ve accomplished together here at Orchestra Nova Northwest.”

The Board has launched a search for ONN’s next Executive Director, aiming to identify a leader who shares the organization’s commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement. Irving will support a smooth transition through the end of his tenure.

“We are grateful for Kevin’s leadership,” said ONN Board President Harold Goldstein. “Working with our remarkable Music Director, board, and staff, Kevin has been an important part of building ONN into a dynamic arts institution. While he will be missed, we are excited to continue building on the foundation we’ve established together.”

Stephen Byess, Music Director of ONN, also reflected on Irving’s tenure, saying, “Kevin’s professionalism, artistic sensibilities, and unwavering dedication have strengthened our organization in meaningful ways. It’s been a true pleasure to collaborate with him, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
