Dwayne Corbin

Principal Percussion
Dwayne Corbin serves as the Professor of Instrumental Music at George Fox University, where he teaches percussion & drum kit, and also conducts the Chehalem Symphony and the George Fox Wind Ensemble. Dwayne is the co-principal timpanist/percussionist of the Juneau Symphony, assistant principal percussionist of the Newport Symphony, and a frequent sub timpanist and percussionists for orchestras in the Portland area. He previously held the position of Principal Percussionist in the North State Symphony for a dozen years, and has also recorded & performed in jazz, folk, and pop groups. His composition Cage for One won first place in the 2009 Percussive Arts Society composition contest and is published by C. F. Peters. Dwayne is also an accomplished conductor, and in addition to his current two ensembles, has previously served as Music Director of the Tilikum Chamber Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Juneau Symphony, and Music Director of the Shasta Symphony. He holds a DMA in Conducting with a cognate field in Percussion from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory, a MM in Percussion Performance from Central Washington University, and a BME from Wheaton College Conservatory.
