Nikolai Dorosh

Ukrainian-born cellist Nikolai Dorosh is a versatile orchestral and chamber musician with an extensive international career spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

He earned his degree from the prestigious Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in 2004. Throughout his career, he has held key orchestral positions, including Assistant Principal of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (2002–2003) and Assistant Principal of The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva (2017–2021). For over a decade (2003–2017), he was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, taking part in major international tours and projects—including two Grammy-nominated recordings in 2005 and 2009.

Most recently in Ukraine, Nikolai performed with The Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre (2021–2022). Parallel to his performing career, he spent 14 years shaping the next generation of musicians as a Chamber Music Instructor at the R. Glier Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music.

A sought-after guest artist, Nikolai has collaborated with leading ensembles, including the New Era Orchestra, Kyiv Classic Orchestra, Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, National Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists,” Israel Chamber Orchestra, Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble, Portland Chamber Orchestra and the Oregon Symphony.

Currently based in the Pacific Northwest, Nikolai is a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Yakima Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Nova Northwest.
